The earn a few thousand bucks a month online is the dream of bloggers. Some can do it, but most fail badly. The basic strategic mistake committed by most is “not any having strategy” at all. Most bloggers do not know what to do: they don’t know where to start, they don’t know what is important, and they don’t even know how to market their good blog. Their marketing strategy is pure machine gunning, shooting everywhere without knowing where the target is. Some bullets hit but most don’t.

To succeed in building a money-making blog is to know the right strategy and to walk the way. In a way, be a sniper, hit the target with less effort! One strategy that is mostly used is to create viral traffic. This strategy has been effectively used by Mark Flavin in his Internet Marketing Blog. Creating viral traffic is about doing things once, and having continual traffic. More traffic basicly means more money.

SEO Linking Tips to increase Blog Traffic and Ranking

Posted in Blog Traffic | Thursday 25 September 2008 10:58 am

Growing traffic and improving your blog’s ranking is possible through natural linking strategies. A link is a validation of your blog’s content quality, newsworthiness of your blog and your reputation as a subject matter expert.

It’s like our own reputation in a community where we live. How would someone recommend us as a good doctor, consultant, accountant or businessman? Only when we have developed a reputation in our domain, would friends, colleagues and neighbors recommend us to someone. That’s exactly the way Google sees a link to your site – as a validation of the quality of content.

Your blog’s ranking on search engines like Google is in some ways determined by the links to your blog. The value of the links is determined by the quality, relevance and quantity of the sites or blogs linking to you.

Quality of the site that Links

The quality of the blog or site that links to you is important. The site must be focused on your subject; or atleast related to your blog content. The number of links into that site is also key to determining the quality of the link to your blog. How the site or blog links – whether it’s a small comment or complete review of your site, just a recommended link among many other links or a quote from your blog post.

So when you write to webmasters or bloggers seeking a link on their site, first find out the relevance of the site and its quality.

Beware of those who try to cheat search engines by using black hat techniques – submitting to a large number of sites using a software, adopting cloaking, scraping someone’s content, linking to porn or adult sites, linking to illegal sites or doing sneaky re-directs etc. Don’t touch them with even a barge pole. Don’t link to them.

Quantity of Links matter in Google ranking a blog

Yes, the quantity certainly matters in ranking your blog higher in search engine results pages. The best way to get a good number of natural links is to write good and original content, post frequently and build your authority on the subject. Once people see that you have quality content, they’ll start linking to your blog.

When you have built a fair number of pages of content, only then should you write to other bloggers and sites seeking a link.

Relevance of the link determines the ranking too

This means that if you have a blog that teaches users to play golf, then a link from a site that has news of the latest happenings in the golf circuit, sells golf accessories, a golf forum or a golf club is relevant. If it’s from a blog or site on Barbie dolls, self help, online money making, fashion or some personal ramblings of a blogger, it’s not relevant to users of those sites.

The inbound link should fall within the subject of your blog post or blog. Then it’s a relevant link. The reason being the link becomes useful to users who are looking for such content. For shoppers on a furniture site, a link to your golf blog is not useful or relevant; therefore Google and other search engines are likely to give it less weightage.

    Seo4google.org Tips on Linking

The ranking of the site that has the inbound link matters a lot in ranking

The relevance of the subject and context of the blog or site

Where the link is placed – home page or inner page

The anchor text (the words used to hyperlink your blog url)

Whether it’s a review of your blog or just an article link

The number of inbound links to that site

The traffic to the site or blog

The number of users who click from there and land up on your site

The quality and relevance of other links on that page

While blogging, remember all these are important in getting a high rank on Google and improving traffic to your blog.

    Income Online Survey

Posted in income, survey | Friday 19 September 2008 9:36 pm

For college students and other people who feel burned out trying to balance paying the bills and living at the same time, ads like these can prove to be irresistible. Many of them make perfect sense and easily hook you based on good concepts. Unfortunately, many times the product or service does not match the brilliance of a great idea for making money from home or through the Internet. As I?ve learned myself, the further you go down this road, the more excited you get. You basically get hooked, and if you aren?t careful, you will end up working hard and falling further into debt than you can imagine. Much like gambling, the lure of easy money and independence can make just about anyone fall prey to work at home scams that feed off your dreams to get to your wallet so they can go on to the next victim.

Hopefully, you will never fall victim to these scam artists. However, the fact of the matter is that these scammers would not be wasting their time if they were not making any money. And as long as people continue to get mixed up in this business, these scammers are going to stick around to trick more and more people.

The best way to keep a scammer?s claws away from your credit card is to do thorough research on each opportunity that you are considering. This means doing much more than simply reading a bit about it online. In my personal experience, I have been taken by companies who were savvy enough to pollute the Internet with staged testimonials, guarantees, questionable references to big name endorsements, and even appearances in the Better Business Bureau.

A colleague of mine who invested in vending machine placement services even went so far as to physically go to the manufacturing plant to tour the warehouse as well as contact the Better Business Bureau of that state. What he received, in return, were twenty malfunctioning candy machines with a list of local businesses who had apparently agreed to receive them. Not only did none of these businesses know what he was talking about, many of them were hostile when he showed up to place them.

What you want to do is check message boards such as the ASK section of Yahoo.com. Another simple method of weeding out the scams from the genuine opportunities is to go to a search engine and simply type in the company name followed by the word ?scam?. If you do this, and you are barraged by an endless list of complaints, you my friend have found a nugget of gold in a sea of mud.

In terms of the Better Business Bureau, it is best to contact them directly to ask about any complaints, and also find out how long a company has been listed. The Better Business Bureau operates state by state. They will be able to tell you if they have any complaints on file. If they do, you will want to avoid the opportunity at all costs. But if it appears that a company is doing business the right way, you can continue your own research.

Being in the Business Bureau is not necessarily that hard to accomplish. Many scammers can use their money and connections to set up a front to initially qualify for the Better Business Bureau just long enough for them to collect their cash from unsuspecting victims, close shop, create a new identity and start again.

Before you decide to do anything, attempt to get in touch with the company that you are interested in. Can you get a human being on the phone? Do they have an actually physical address? How long does it take them to respond to your e-mails, if at all? If you cannot even talk to the company before you start, there is not chance that they will be around when you really need them. I once made quite a bit of money selling vacation vouchers on auction sites. The marketing plan was sound, and the money saving vouchers was a hit. Only problem was, I could never get in touch with their customer service department to handle my customer inquiries and complaints once I realized that the promises that existed in writing on the vouchers were misleading at best. This proved to be such a problem that it took me over a year to recover from the negative publicity on my auction site.

Of course, there are legitimate home based businesses out there. With the Internet and all the low cost, web producing tools available, there seems to be a renaissance in entrepreneurship. Basically, just find a product or service you can market online, and do your research. Sell on EBay if you don?t want to build your own website. You can have a website their and all search engine marketing is already done by EBay. The Small Business Association has an office in downtown Tacoma and contains invaluable information on their website http://www.sba.com. Since small business is the backbone of our country economically, sources such as these are eager to help you create a plan with realistic expectations.

However, like anything else worthwhile, you have to do your homework and work hard at it. The problem is that too many people make you think you can practically go online and make money just clicking on a mouse. You want to steer clear of any business that asks to you to pay for their ?Top Secret? e-book that will teach you how to make an automated income.?

Think about it, if you are in dire need of cash, can you imagine any other situation in which you would not only work for free, but pay for the privilege to work. There are no magic formals or secrets worth paying for. All of the information in these e-books can be found for free through your own research if you have common internet skills.

If you don?t want to work hard and just make a few easy extra bucks without donating your blood or volunteering to be a guinea pig, it is possible to make some good extra money filling out online surveys or through mystery shopping. There are real opportunities out there which require no fee to get started. Not only that, several of them will even give you a $5 bonus just for signing up. If a company such as this is legitimate, they would be making lots of money through the success of its members. Companies that require that $49.97 start up fee only make money through the fee and only want to teach you how to get other people to do the same. The products are all useless lists and general information that anyone with a functioning mind could figure out on their own, or get for free by doing their own research.

In 12 years of trying to make a living on the Internet, the following are the best companies I have ever encountered for making a few extra bucks filling out surveys, playing games and mystery shopping. They probably won?t pay the rent, but if you?re interested in making an extra $400 or $500 a month or eating out at nice restaurants and going to movies for free, you may want to check these out:

Mystery Shopping Providers Association: .” target=new>http://www.mysteryshop.org/shoppers/“>.

This site contains all the information you will ever need on starting up as a mystery shopper. It is also a portal for the best sites to go to for mystery shopping jobs online, and they don?t require that you invest a penny.

InboxDollars.com. (you can sign up for free and get $5 just for signing up. You can make a few hundred dollars in one day, theoretically, if you are willing to use a credit card to sign up for free or paid trials. Just make sure you have the patience to fill out the long surveys and keep detailed records so you can remember to cancel your free trials before you get charged. Also, you can fill out surveys to make a dollar or two which are completely free. I?ve made about $400 with this site.

    http://www.sendearnings.com.(almost identical to InboxDollars.com)

http://www.treasuretrooper.com. (a lot of free surveys and cool games).

http://www.tiktikcash.com. By far the best of the survey sites. The free surveys are tremendous. You can make a dollar or two in one minute. This site has the shortest, most painless surveys. I made over thirty bucks in less than after signing up.

    Online consultation

Posted in online consultation | Sunday 14 September 2008 9:32 pm

The world is flat according to Thomas L. Friedmen, the famous writer of “The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century”. With the introduction of internet, now almost everything are possible. Distance is not a barrier anymore. People from miles apart can play bridge with ease. No traveling and physical meeting required.

Online consultation is now a trend. Take an example of a clinic for plastic surgery in Beverly Hills. Knowing the fact that flying to beverly hills for consultation might be time consuming, inconvenient, and expensive , this clinic is offering “Long Distance” online consultation. The procedure is pretty is simple, just email the completed form and photographs of concerned area. Assesment will be done without requiring the potential patient to come to the clinic. The patient Care Consultant will the contact the patient to discuss pre-operative care, costs, recovery, local accommodations and any questions related to the procedure.

I am further impressed by the before and after surgery photo gallery for breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, otoplasty, rhinoplasty, eye lift, face lift, and brow lift. These gallery worth more than a thousand words. Well, you can click to the link above if you want to know more.

Just want to share a bit of what i bumped into this morning.

This company has a very creative business idea where it sells health-related products through an affiliate marketing programs. Traffic to Your Website

Posted in Blog Traffic | Friday 12 September 2008 9:20 pm

Traffic is the lifeblood of any website. No traffic usually translates as no sales. It is understandable why people can become desperate and go for bulk traffic in the hope that out of 10,000 names 500 will make a purchase or join their list and they will become rich overnight.

It is a well known fact that this does not happen. Any traffic that is not targeted is really a waste of your money. Your traffic should be quality and not quantity.

Sending out emails to an untargeted audience is not really smart marketing because you will be sending commercial emails to people who do not know you. There is no guarantee that you will get a favourable response from people who are mostly using throw away email addresses because they do not want to be inundated by a deluge of emails.

Most of the people on these safe lists know that they will be receiving emails from other members. These are people who are mostly trying to sell something not buy something. This is actually one of the conditions of their “safe list” membership.

The main problem is that they are more likely to delete your emails than read them. It is one of those things about human nature. They want you to read their emails and respond to them but not the other way around.

In my experience, and I have tried safe lists, everyone is sending emails to each other but no one is reading them never mind making a purchase!

Why take your chances with this form of traffic?

I am sure there are marketers out there who can make this form of traffic generation work however I would not advise it. Build your own traffic.

You can be rest assured that one of the reasons your emails may not get read is because some of these marketers have simply used a throw away email address, one they hardly ever use so they can simply batch your emails in 100’s and press the delete button. Like I mentioned earlier this is certainly not smart marketing if you are using safe lists.

It makes sense then to build your own mailing list. Do not be tempted by all what safe lists appear to offer or how many members there are on a safe list. It is not all about numbers what you really need to make money online are targeted and responsive subscribers.

    Successful Emails

Posted in email | Friday 12 September 2008 9:17 pm

During a new project call, today, a client asked for my advice on which was better, telemarketing or email, for finding new prospects.

My basic answer is that the telephone is overall more high-touch and more reliable. However, email, when done correctly can be effective. I didn’t say *as* reliable or *as* effective but it can be a wonderful secondary form of air cover.

So that begs the question — what makes a successful email?

At a high level, here are the six secrets to what makes a successful email. Notice, I didn’t say “good” or “well-written” or “pleasant” or “graphically appealing” email — I said *successful*. (I don’t have time to go into the other components of an email campaign, so, for now, I’ll cover the email itself.)

    * Subject line with a great offer: If the email reaches the target, you have only a few seconds to get them to open the email; make sure the subject line jumps out at them by including a great offer. Another way of looking at this? “Don’t be ashamed of bribing people.”

    * Headline w/great offer: Once people open your email and view your headline, you have another 3 seconds during which they decide whether to read the rest of the email or hit ‘junk’ or ‘delete’. Make sure the headline captures their attention and again tells them about your wonderful offer.

    * Content: Short and sweet and to the point: That’s it. Don’t write the great American novel. This is about time - and how much they can/will give to an email message, during their busy day.

    * Single objective: Don’t try to sell them anything; don’t try to get them to do *several* things. You have one objective and one only — You want them to go to a landing page or whatever the next step is. The landing page structure is a whole different animal - but my single objective advice is to focus on email effectiveness, for now.

    * Contact: Make sure to give them various ways to connect with you including landing page, click to call, phone number, email, etc.

    * Remind them of the offer: Again make the offer very enticing and remind them at least *three* times in the email about what they get if they respond. I also find that images of your offer works great, too (ex: If you give them a gift card for meeting with you, then use the image of a gift card, etc.).

There are other points of advice regarding email communication, of course, but my organization has found that these are the main secrets to our online success.

Just a little warning — when we do emails I run into a lot of resistance from vendors who might be paying for these (our/your) marketing activities. As we develop marketing campaigns for these vendors, we must have all emails meet with their approval. Depending, of course, on your vendor client, they may try to water down the effectiveness of your email. That’s your challenge.

    Project Management Software

Posted in software, wordpress | Friday 12 September 2008 8:01 pm

Business means projects. Getting a project is one thing, managing and finishing a project successfully is another thing. Getting a project means money flowing in to our company. However, things might turn around if we could not finish the project on time or to the requirements of our client.

These are a few problems we might face during a project: getting everybody updated on what everybody has done; client’s emails containing important information ending up with the wrong member; difficulty in estimating true project costs because time spent on project tasks are not tracked down properly; communication issue as clients and working partners are miles away. Often, failure to manage the problems will result in redundancies and time wasting, subsequently high productivity cost.

A good project needs a good project management software for tasks and getting things done. I found out that Peletonics provides an easy to use project dashboard, and most importantly it can enable us to handle all the challenges above. Remember that good project management means good productivity and ,of course, profit.

This is how Pelotonics works perfectly for projects:

    1. Projects can easily be categorised into TO DO and MILETONES, and be added into the CALENDAR. Relevant Parties will be informed automatically such that everyone will know the updated status for all the tasks. If we need reports, well they are all ready for printing.

    2. Pelotonics has an effective messaging system. All updates, comments and relevant files submitted by team and clients will be sent to the management portal, after which relevant parties will be informed.

    3. Pelotonics provides special feature for time-tracking. We can easily identify bottlenecks and adjust accordingly before they become problems.

    4. I like the friendly Overview and Dashboard pages which is best for checking updates, submitting files and messages. We can access this pages from everywhere we want. Pelotonics seems to work on all platforms (but IE7 is most recommended). Best, there is no software downloading or data synchronizing.

    5. Peletonics is all about transparency and trust between project team and clients. The software accommodates the fast and updated information that can be accessed by both team and clients. Team can get prompt reply by posting a message to the client via the project management portal.

    Site Usability Analysis

Posted in SEO, blog | Friday 12 September 2008 11:02 am

    Search Engine Compatibility Study

Oftentimes a lot of money is spent on developing websites that are not search engine friendly or search engine compatible. In the final analysis, a lot of effort was spent for nothing. While the latest website development technologies that have emerged recently produce great looking, often animated websites, many are sadly ignored by search engines. Even some older techniques still in use today, like site building with HTML frames, are also not feasible for gaining top search engine rankings .

Since search engines use automated software robots to crawl the page links within websites and interpret the pages, websites that use technologies which make it impossible for search engines to crawl them, do not get indexed, resulting in exclusion from search results.

Website design elements that ensure that your website will be well-ranked by the search engines include your homepage’s ability to display links to the site’s most recent content, as well as the site’s drill-down menu structure and format.
